Bucks get unexpected injury update for Friday game vs Bulls

The Milwaukee Bucks‘ injury report for tonight’s game against the 6-1 Bulls indicates that they will be without forward Taurean Prince, who is dealing with a neck strain. Previously listed as questionable, he has now been ruled out, per Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

Milwaukee to be without Taurean Prince in Central Division clash

It will be Prince’s first absence this season. Over the past two years with the Bucks and Lakers the 31-year-old forward has been surprisingly durable, missing a total of six games and only two last season. Before 2023-24, the last time he had played at least 70 games was 2017-18 in Atlanta.

The difference this season is that Prince is coming off the bench after making 73 starts in ’24-25. In eight contests, he is averaging 6.1 points in 21 minutes while shooting 42.9% from distance. Twice Prince has reached double figures, but he is coming off an abysmal 0-5 night in Toronto in which he didn’t do much of anything. Four fouls represented his main contribution to the box score.

Also on the injury report is point guard Kevin Porter Jr., who will remain out for the next several weeks following knee surgery. Atypically, Giannis Antetokounmpo bears no “questionable” or “probable” tag, as he often has this season despite missing just one game.

With the Bucks last playing on Tuesday, he has had a bit more time to recover after Milwaukee played every other night and then ended on back-to-back in Indiana and Toronto in the opening stretch of schedule.

Prince has played primarily at three and four this season, opening up increased opportunities for Kyle Kuzma and Amir Coffey off the bench.

Led by Josh Giddey (23.1 PPG, 10 RPG, 9.1 APG), the Bulls won their first five games and are off to a better start than anyone anticipated. The Bucks (5-3) are 4.5-point home favorites with tip off scheduled for 7 PM Central Time.
