“He’s back” – Daniel Farke delivers huge news Leeds United fans will love

Willy Gnonto Leeds United

When Willy Gnonto picked up an injury a few weeks ago, Leeds United had limited wide options who could create the spark the Italian brings.

It also has not helped that Dan James has not been fully fit this season; the Welshman has been struggling with niggling problems since the September international break. At this point of the season, the Whites need all the help they can get in attack. Just nine goals scored in the Premier League season ranks them as the third worst attack in the division.

If Leeds are to stand any chance of survival this year, then the club has to act fast in the January window. But Daniel Farke’s recent words at the last press conference has not given much hope to the fans.

Leeds have a tough game up against Nottingham Forest this weekend. And at this point of the season, the match is shaping up to be crucial to both sides. The Whites sit outside the relegation zone, with Sean Dyche’s side firmly near the bottom. Three points would give a huge boost to either side before they enter the international break.

Willy Gnonto return hands Leeds United huge boost

Daniel Farke will have one less thing to worry about when Sunday comes as Wilfried Gnonto is set to return to action. The Italian has missed the last couple of games after undergoing minor surgery. This is what Farke had to say about Gnonto’s status for the upcoming game:

“He has been back in team training for two weeks, he is back and available and selection, we will see, it’s not a risk anymore, there’s a chance he could be picked for this game yes.”

The winger’s return would be a huge boost for a side who have been lacking that spark up top.

Leeds need some creativity in the side

Last weekend’s loss to Brighton exposed a lot about this Leeds side, particularly the lack of creativity in the team. Aside them being totally dominated by the home side, Daniel Farke’s men barely created anything.

This is in contrast to a few games ago where they managed to create multiple big chances in matches against Burnley, Spurs and Bournemouth.Wilfried Gnonto could be the solution to that problem; the winger’s pace and trickery can unlock defences and make things much easier for the team. Last season we saw a different, more productive side to the Italian – nine goals and six assists in the Championship. If he can produce at even a fraction of that level, Leeds are in good hands for the rest of the campaign.
