Here’s how Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes is spending his bye week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes is using his bye week to get a front-seat view of one of the top college football matchups this Saturday.

Mahomes will be in Lubbock, Texas, this weekend as his alma mater Texas Tech takes on BYU in a matchup of top-10 Big 12 foes. And not only will Mahomes be there, he’ll be putting his football analyst hat on as ESPN College Gameday’s celebrity guest picker.

The No. 8 Red Raiders and No. 7 BYU Cougars will play Saturday at 11 a.m. on ABC. Prior to the game, Mahomes will join ESPN’s ‘College Gameday’ crew with Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit for the final segment of the ESPN show, putting to the test his college football knowledge during his bye week.

It’s the latest connection between Mahomes and his alma mater, which he gave $5 million to in August 2024.

On the field, the Red Raiders will be wearing their all-white uniforms, with Mahomes’ personal adidas gladiator logo on the chest plate.

After making his picks this Saturday, Mahomes and the Chiefs will return to action next weekend against the Denver Broncos.
