James Cook details how Josh Allen is moving differently this season

The Buffalo Bills seemingly found themselves back against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season. After dropping back-to-back games against the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons in Weeks 5 and 6, respectively, they bounced back with a commanding 40-6 win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8 and a more difficult victory against the Chiefs (27-21) on Sunday.

Josh Allen showed up again against Kansas City, leading his team to the promised land with 23 completions on 26 pass attempts for 273 yards and one touchdown. He took over on the ground, adding 19 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.

During Friday’s episode of Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams,” running back James Cook detailed what he’s seeing from Allen, as the star quarterback continues to improve after taking home the 2024 MVP award.

“I’d say last year and this year he’s been moving differently,” Cook said. “Just the work that he’s been putting in, just coming out when we lost to those two teams. Shaking back, just being the leader that is always keeping us together. That’s our quarterback.”

Allen’s mental toughness has always been put under scrutiny, especially during the playoffs. He’s been close to playing in the Super Bowl many times, but the Bills have failed to move past the Chiefs, collecting painful losses year after year.

The Patriots and Falcons losses could serve as preparation for him not to relax and miss the goal, but fans will learn whether he learned when the playoffs arrive. The Bills remain one of the top teams in the AFC, and their most recent win boosted their confidence.

They will clash against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10, hoping to extend their good moment against a weakened squad.
