Huge boost as key Villa ace set to sign new contract, touted terms

Aston Villa have reportedly agreed terms with Morgan Rogers over a new contract that will extend his stay with us to 2031.

The 23-year-old has firmly established himself as a key figure for Unai Emery since joining us from Middlesbrough in January 2024, contributing 18 goals and 20 assists in 85 appearances thus far.

Beyond those figures though, Rogers has been a crucial influence in our preferred system and style of play, and subsequently has been a mainstay in the starting line-up since his arrival.

It’s no surprise that speculation has suggested that interest has grown in him from elsewhere, and so that raised concern that Villa may have to fend off potential bids for him in the future.

In a hugely positive development though, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Villa and the England international have reached an agreement on a new contract that will see him commit until 2031, adding a year on to his current deal.

Further, it’s noted that he is set to receive a significant salary increase, which in fairness will be a reward and reflection of his importance in the side now, as well as being part of the strategy to keep hold of him moving forward with a financial bump.

That should in turn end rumours over his future at Villa, and while we wait for an official announcement from the club, he’ll be the latest in a number of influential first-team players to put pen to paper on a new deal as we continue to secure the core of the current squad.

Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Matty Cash and John McGinn have all agreed new terms since the summer, and it’s hoped that Rogers follows shortly, as we continue to recover after a difficult start to the season with key individuals returning to form as Emery continues to get the best out of them.

Rogers was one of those to struggle as he went through a real slump in the early part of the campaign, but as with the team as a whole, there have been positive signs that he’s rediscovering better form and he will undoubtedly be a fundamental part of our push for success this year and beyond.
