Injuries have decimated the Detroit Lions’ secondary through the first nine weeks of the regular season. Kerby Joseph is expected to miss his third consecutive game after aggravating his knee injury in Week 6. The good news is that Terrion Arnold, who avoided a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5, only missed two games and returned last week.
The Detroit Lions’ $48 million free-agent signing has not played since Week 4
Detroit Lions cornerback D.J. Reed (4) is being taken off the field due to an injury during the second half against Cleveland Browns at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025.
D.J. Reed suffered an apparent hamstring injury in Week 4, initially fearing that he had torn his hamstring off the bone, similar to Dak Prescott. The good news is that the elite cornerback avoided a season-ending injury but was expected to miss significant time with a Grade 2/3 hamstring strain. As a result, the Lions placed Reed on injured reserve in Week 5, sidelining him for the previous five games.
Detroit Lions’ elite corner’s ideal timetable for return revealed
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell speaks to members of the media at the Detroit Lions practice facility in Allen Park on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, following his team’s NFC divisional playoff loss.
During Friday’s press conference, Dan Campbell provided a positive injury update on D.J. Reed, as reported by Jeff Risdon of Lions Wire. The head coach shared that the cornerback is doing well but won’t commit to a timetable for his return. Campbell added that if he had to choose a specific timeline, he hopes Reed returns in early December.
“Reed’s doing well. I don’t know if I can give you that timeline,” Campbell said, via Risdon. “There again, I’d say early December. Somewhere in there. But he’s looking good, he’s getting better and better.”
