Mohamadou Kanté has received plenty of attention for his excellent performances with West Ham’s U21s this season — and deservedly so.
After it was revealed yesterday that the powerful midfielder had been drafted into senior training by manager Nuno Espirito Santo, many wondered if he might make the matchday squad. With Ezra Mayers featuring on the bench against Newcastle last week, could Kanté be next in line for tomorrow’s clash with Burnley?
However, after speaking to a source at the training ground today, it appears another young player has really caught Nuno’s eye.

Golambeckis Catching the Manager’s Attention
Golambeckis has impressed everyone in the Wets Ham senior squad
Claret & Hugh were told that Nuno has been “very impressed” with central defender Airidas Golambeckis, who has also been training with the senior team.
The 18-year-old-who has just signed a new deal- has reportedly turned heads at Rush Green, with one insider revealing: “The manager really likes Golambeckis — he’s not looked out of place among the seniors.”
There’s said to be a real buzz around the academy at present, particularly with Steve Potts and Mark Robson now drafted into Nuno’s first-team coaching setup. Combined with Premier League starts handed to Callum Marshall, Ollie Scarles, and Freddie Potts, it’s clear that a genuine pathway from academy to senior football is beginning to take shape under the new boss.
And if Nuno’s early actions are anything to go by, Golambeckis and Kanté could soon be the next names stepping onto that path.
