On the field, the Detroit Lions are known for their “trick” plays that often leave defenders thinking “How’d they do that?” However, during some downtime away from the field, four members of the team got a taste of their own medicine thanks to magician Oz the Mentalist.
In a video released Thursday, Oz the Mentalist -- whose real name is Oz Pearlman -- shows how it all went down when he visited quarterback Jared Goff, running back Jahmyr Gibbs and wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Tim Patrick. It’s unclear when the video was filmed as Patrick was traded by the Lions in August.
The video shows Pearlman performing a handful of mind-blowing tricks on the group. He starts by asking St. Brown to pick out the name of a person he grew up with and tries to guess it. After correctly figuring out the name, St. Brown then says he has a destination in mind, which the magician also correctly guesses.
“Nah, I don’t like that,” Gibbs can be heard saying as the other players also react in shock to Pearlman.
The magician continues with a few more bits including one involving Gibbs’ cell phone and the players naming off random NFL players that has to be seen to be believed. From there, Pearlman visits the Miami Dolphins for a trick in front of the entire team that brings them to their feet.
Pearlman, a Michigan native, grew up in Farmington Hills and attended the University of Michigan. He finished in third place on season 10 of the hit reality TV competition “America’s Got Talent.”
