The Buffalo Bills are set to battle the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon in their second meeting ofthe year. Buffalo was able to sneak out a win in the first matchup thanks in part to a late interception by
linebacker Terrell Bernard. Miami played one of their best games of the season that afternoon, and they’re likely to be ready this weekend.
That means emotions could run hot on the sweaty South Beach field. As we do every week at Buffalo Rumblings, we’re back to shine a spotlight on Buffalo’s impending officiating crew matchup. In Week 10, Bills-Dolphins draws Ron Torbert and company.
This season, Torbert’s team is just outside the top five for total penalties called with 117 total. Hehas yet to officiate a game this year involving the Bills or Dolphins. Close your eyes if you are readingthis because the last time his crew did a Bills game was the 2024 game out west against the Seattle Seahawks. Ifyou remember that one, there were 24 total penalties called with 13 of them going against the Bills for atotal of 85 yards. Fun fact, Torbert was the head official for last year’s Super Bowl between the
Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
As for what penalties to look out for on Sunday, expect more of the same. Offensive holding leads theway for this crew, being called 25 times on the year. The interesting nugget to point out is that Torbert and his crew’s third-most-common penalty on the season is unnecessary roughness. Given this is a
divisional matchup between two teams heading in opposite directions, things could get testy. We’ll see if Torbert wants to set the tone early by throwing a flag if someone hits the deck or gets just a little out of line.
