David Hopkinson is getting to work as the new CEO of Newcastle United after announcing his 100-day review, which has already seen some dominoes topple.
Whether the recent spate of exits was a direct response to Hopkinson's arrival, we'll never know for certain, but the timing is certainly suspicious.
But it's not just exits being reported at the boardroom level, as Craig Hope has reported in his Newcastle Confidential column that the club are bringing in a finance guru.
The new appointment will help the club navigate the pitfalls of the financial restrictions put in place by the Premier League and UEFA.

Newcastle to appoint a technical accounting expert
After coming dangerously close to breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules last year, it makes sense that they should have someone at the club who can guide the club around these issues.
However, Craig Hope has looked a little deeper and believes this could be a hint of big things to come with the club still yet to many any formal announcement on a new training ground or a new stadium or expansion of St James' Park.
"The club are ready to hire a technical accounting expert whose job it will be to advise on the accounting implications for all projects and proposals. This could indicate that a major project such as a new training ground is nearing announcement."

It's about time we got some forward momentum
That sounds like. a bit of wishful thinking by the local scribe, but we've passed the four-year point in the PIF era, and it seems like big things like this should already be in the works beyond the discussion phase by now.
Obviously, these projects take time to get off the ground under ideal circumstances, but given that Newcastle's boardroom has been about as stable as my mental health, it's hardly a surprise things are dragging on.
Hopefully, now that we have Hopkinson in place, he can start signing off on these things that have been held up due to the ever-changing landscape behind the scenes.
