Pep Guardiola will take charge of the 1,000th game of his managerial career when Manchester City face Liverpool on Sunday.
The Spaniard has written his name in the history books across spells with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and City, although his side haven’t been at their best over the past 12 months.
Despite this, the Citizens currently sit second in the Premier League table, and victory over the Reds could cut Arsenal’s lead at the top if the Gunners fail to beat the Black Cats.
City failed to win a single trophy last season, and Guardiola will hope to see his side return to winning silverware this time around.
Off the pitch, it has now emerged that City are interested in a Spanish defender.
As per TEAMtalk, Manchester City are monitoring Sporting CP full-back Ivan Fresneda and could make a move to sign the player.

The report claims that the Manchester club have identified the Spaniard as a possible transfer target as they look to replace right-back Kyle Walker, who departed The Etihad over the summer.
Since Walker’s departure, midfielder Matheus Nunes has regularly been used as a makeshift right-back, but the report claims that City are now on the hunt for a new specialist full-back to provide competition for the Portuguese.
Fresneda, 21, joined Sporting Spanish side Real Valladolid back in 2023 and has since made more than 50 appearances for the Portuguese club across all competitions.
London clubs Chelsea and West Ham United are also said to have been monitoring the Spanish defender, who has made 13 appearances so far this term.
It is also claimed that City have also identified Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento as a possible target, while the Citizens were also interested in Nicolo Savona prior to his move to Nottingham Forest over the summer.
Fresneda’s contract with the Portuguese champions is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season.
