Jaguars make final decision on temporary home for 2027 season

The Jacksonville Jaguars will give EverBank Stadium a makeover. Renovations will start after the 2025 season, and they had to look for a temporary home in 2027. The search appears to be over, as they find a venue where they'll play home games that year.

Earlier this year, the Benny Hill Griffin Stadium was ruled out because it will also undergo renovations. That left Orlando as the most likely destination for the Jags. A recent report confirms that it will be where they'll play home games in 2027.

It's official! Orlando will host the Jaguars in 2027

Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel just confirmed that the Jags will play home games at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando. This isn't necessarily shocking when you take into account that it's set to undergo $400 million renovations to host more events in the foreseeable future. Aside from the Swamp, the Daytona Speedway was also seen as a potential option, albeit less likely.

There surely are several details that still have to be sorted out, but by choosing Orlando, the Jaguars just checked a massive box. Sure, fans may not be thrilled about having to travel to watch the team, but the upside is that the Bank will get a much-needed lift.

Back in 2024, the Jaguars announced that they had reached an agreement with the city of Jacksonville to spend $1.4 billion in renovations to the Bank and the adjacent area. The deal was subject to a vote by NFL owners. It passed unanimously.

Why is the news that the Jaguars will play in Orlando important

The truth is that when the renovations were approved in 2024, the Jags were in the midst of a funk, so the news didn't truly move the needle. However, they're now trending in the right direction under Liam Coen, who's spearheading a cultural shift. Now, he'll need to make sure that Jacksonville keeps trending in the right direction.

If Coen helps the Jags to sustain long-term success, playing in a renovated EverBank Stadium will be huge. Think about it, when they're losing, it's hard to fill seats, but when they're winning, the Bank becomes an electric place. Imagine if they're a perennial contender? It will sell out week in and week out.

As of this writing, the Jags are 5-3 and in a position to finish the year with a winning record. The news that they'll be playing in Orlando in 2027 couldn't have come at a better time.
