Bo Nix says the Broncos must ‘start moving the football and scoring points’

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix didn’t appear to be in the best of moods postgame after his team beat the Las Vegas Raiders.

Who could blame him?

Nix and the offense had a tough night at Empower Field at Mile High, even though the Broncos escaped with an ugly 10-7 win. The victory moved Denver to 8-2 on the season, but it was largely on the backs of another huge defensive effort.

The first question to Nix was about the offensive struggles and needing to be better. He kind of deadpanned his response.

“Yeah, we gotta do better. At some point, 10 points isn’t gonna be enough, we gotta score more,” Nix said.

Some of the only scoring the Broncos did all game was a Bo Nix touchdown pass to Troy Franklin late in the second quarter. That tied things 7-7 before halftime.

Special teams made a huge play in the third quarter, blocking a Raiders punt near the end zone. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t do anything with the ball, but a Wil Lutz short field goal proved to be the game-winner.

The Denver defense sacked Las Vegas QB Geno Smith six times and the Raiders struggled to move the football. Bo Nix tipped his cap to his teammates on that side of the ball.

“Right now it’s the defense leading the charge. They continue to get us the ball back. A bunch of sacks tonight, a few that were in field-goal range that knocked them out. You’ll win a lot of games with a defense playing like that,” Nix said.

Overall the Broncos sophomore QB threw for only 150 yards and also had two interceptions. Denver failed on 10 third-downs and had seven punts. Nix looked uncomfortable in the pocket at times as well.

And ultimately, he summed up what this offense needs to do better.

“At some point we’ve got to start moving the football and scoring points,” Nix said.

Hopefully that some point is in 10 days against the Chiefs. Even though Kansas City has lost four games this year, they’ll be a massive test for the Broncos.

Bo Nix knows this type of performance won’t get in done in a game with huge stakes following a mini-bye this weekend.
