The chess match between Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is going to play out with Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love as the key piece on the board.
Philadelphia loaded up on defense at the trade deadline, acquiring cornerback Michael Carter, former Packers All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander, and star edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, which will make Monday night’s showdown in Green Bay an unveiling of a new look Eagles defense.
Jordan Love’s prowess against the blitz could decide Eagles vs. Packers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is pressed by Carolina Panthers linebacker Trevin Wallace (32) during the third quarter of their game Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Over at ESPN, Aaron Schatz pointed out that the key to the Eagles’ chances of upsetting the Packers could hinge on how Philadelphia defends Love.
“Philadelphia will resist the urge to blitz Packers QB Jordan Love,” Schatz writes for ESPN. “He has an 89.5 QBR against the blitz this season, third in the NFL behind the Patriots’ Drake Maye and Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. The Eagles have blitzed on just 24% of pass plays this season, 20th in the NFL.”
Love’s prowess against the blitz has been a driving force behind him completing a career-high 70.8 percent of his passes for 2,071 yards with 13 touchdowns to just three interceptions.
“I’ve said it before, I’m going to be an aggressive quarterback. I love taking shots downfield,” Love said after the Washington game. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in my guys that they’re going to make plays when we get some of these opportunities.”
Time will tell if Fangio and the Eagles allow him to take shots downfield on a revamped secondary.
How Love is able to pick apart an Eagles defense that doesn’t blitz, may go a long way towards deciding Monday night’s game.
