Dan Quinn spoke to the media after today’s practice. The Washington Commanders will host the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon, and he named this week’s team captains and highlighted Jeremy Reaves representing special teams. Chris Rodriguez Jr is the captain for the offense and Daron Payne’s the defensive captain vs the Lions.
Quinn confirmed the reports from this morning that QB Jayden Daniels won’t require surgery for his elbow dislocation, and he won’t be going to injured reserve. There were no broken bones, or torn ligaments from the injury. They will reassess the injury after the Week 12 bye, and make a decision on whether he’s playing this season, or getting shut down for next season.
The Commanders’ defense suffered another season-ending injury when starting CB Marshon Lattimore tore his ACL vs the Seahawks. Quinn said Mike Sainristil and Jonathan Jones can be used on the inside and outside. Sainristil has been moved back inside this season after the team drafted Trey Amos in the 2nd round and he has been struggling. He was more effective on the outside during his rookie season, and will see more snaps there. Jones was a veteran signing who landed on IR early, but is back in the rotation for the second half of the season.
