West Ham vs Burnley: Premier League Preview, Gameweek 11, 2025

Saturday sees West Ham welcome Burnley to the London Stadium, with the Hammers three points behind the Clarets going into the game.

Both sides sit near the bottom of the table, with West Ham in 18th and Burnley in 17th. A win for the East London club would put them level on points with the visitors, and would only remain in the relegation zone on goal difference, unless they were to win by four goals.

West Ham come into the game looking to make it back-to-back victories for the first time this season after their surprising home win over Newcastle United last weekend.

As for Burnley, they fell to a 2-0 home defeat against league leaders Arsenal last Saturday. However, before that defeat, they had picked up two wins in a row, against Leeds United and strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Before last weekend, the Hammers had lost three games in a row, only scoring once. Despite that, they will come into Saturday's game with confidence after their performance against Newcastle.

Burnley have also struggled for form this season, but have put in some good displays in contrast to their results. A win for the visitors will move them six points clear of West Ham and the relegation zone, so Scott Parker's side will be hoping they can add more pressure on West Ham with a win.

West Ham

The East London club will be without Ollie Scarles after he picked up a shoulder injury against Leeds. They will also be without Konstantinos Marvropanos and George Earthy as they both continue to nurse injuries. Niclas Füllkrug has returned to training but has not been cleared for action, which Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo commented on.

“My job is to coach the players. After we arrived, Niclas played the first two games, and then unfortunately got injured. Now he’s coming back, and when we can get him healthy and ready to go, he’s going to be another really good option for the team.”

Nuno also confirmed that four academy players have been training with the first team and have a chance of being included in the matchday squad. Ezra Mayers, Finlay Herrick, Airidas Golambeckis and Mohamadou Kanté.

“Four players of our academy are working every day with us: Finlay, Airidas, Ezra, and Mo.”

Burnley

The visitors will be without Zeki Amdouni, Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer, who all remain long-term absentees.

Parker spoke to the press ahead of Saturday’s game and said that “everyone is fit” who wasn’t already injured and that Hjalmar Ekdal had picked up “a little black eye” in training but should be able to feature.

Likely Line-Ups

West Ham

Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf, Potts, Fernandes, Paquetá, Bowen, Summerville, Wilson.

Burnley

Dúbravka, Walker, Tuanzebe, Estève, Hartman, Cullen, Florentino, Larsen, Ugochukwu, Anthony, Flemming.

Key Players

West Ham – Lucas Paquetá

Despite West Ham starting the season poorly, Paquetá has performed well. He has started all 11 games this season scoring four goals across two competitions.

After his betting allegations were dropped, the Brazillian seems to have found a new lease of life after having a poor season last campaign.

He is capable of creating something out of nothing, which we have seen this season with his goals against Chelsea and Newcastle. As well as his attacking threat, Paquetá can impact the team defensively, which is what makes him so important. Burnley will need to try and keep him quiet if they want to win.

Burnley – Jaidon Anthony

The visitors' top scorer this season, with four goals, will pose as a big threat to West Ham’s shaky defence.

Burnley will come into the game knowing the Hammers have been poor defensively this season, especially from corners. Anthony will be aiming to unsettle Kilman and Todibo with his pace, who have had disappointing starts to the season.

Scoring against the likes of Sunderland, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, Burnley and Anthony will be hoping he can bring his goalscoring boots to the London Stadium, so they pick up their fourth win of the season.
