The New York Jets enter Week 10 with uncertainty surrounding their quarterback position. Justin Fields opened the season as the starter but was benched before Week 8 after two underwhelming performances.
An injury to backup Tyrod Taylor forced Fields back into action against the Cincinnati Bengals, where he responded with a solid outing that complicated the team’s plans moving forward.
Head coach Aaron Glenn has declined to clarify who will start in Week 10. When pressed by reporters, he offered the same response he provided before the Week 8 game, refusing to publicly address the situation.
“Well, the thing is, I don’t worry about those things. Our guys know who’s going to be the quarterback. I know who’s going to be the quarterback. It’s just not my responsibility to have to tell you that,” Glenn said, shutting the reporter asking the question down.

Nothing suggests the Jets are preparing to move away from Fields. His performance in Week 8 provided enough encouragement to keep him in the conversation as the primary option.
Taylor has returned to full participation in practice, which adds depth to the position, but Fields was brought in during the offseason and named the starter immediately.
When comparing the two quarterbacks, Fields holds advantages in several areas. He brings more rushing production and total touchdowns while recording zero interceptions compared to Taylor’s three.
Both quarterbacks average similar passing yards per game, but Fields’ mobility and favorable turnover margin give him a statistical edge. That edge reflects opportunity more than established trust at this point.
Glenn has made it clear he will not reveal lineup decisions publicly. Fields’ strong showing came against the league’s lowest-ranked defense, which provides context rather than definitive proof of improvement.
Still, it offers a foundation for cautious optimism as the Jets prepare to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 10. Fields remains the most likely starter heading into Sunday’s matchup.
