ANDONI Iraola hopes his [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au) side will be able to ‘make the difference’ against Aston Villa on Sunday, with Iraola yet to taste defeat over Unai Emery’s side while boss in Dorset.

Bournemouth head to Villa Park on Sunday, aiming to bounce back from their defeat at Manchester City last weekend.

But in four attempts, Iraola’s Cherries have earned just two points against Villa.

The boss said all four games had been ‘very level’ affairs, but, in the two defeats, the Villans have been able to make the difference and edge ahead.

In the two draws, there have been late goals that have seen the points shared.

Ollie Watkins scored in the 90th minute back in December 2023 to earn his side a 2-2 draw, while Evanilson netted a stoppage time equaliser at Villa Park last term to snatch a point for Bournemouth.

The Cherries have been able to get the edge over a number of sides they previously hadn’t been able to this season, such as Spurs, who they defeated 1-0 away from home after a draw last season.

And Iraola hopes his team will have enough to make the difference this season at Villa Park – but they have to be tactically and mentally strong.

He told the Daily Echo: “I know that we have to be very good if we want to beat Villa, especially away.

“They also create a good atmosphere there and you feel the pressure when they arrive. They create good chances.

“You have to mentally be very strong to sustain some pressure and not to panic when they arrive one or two times they have a couple of corners and it's this kind of stadiums where sometimes you can, if you are not mentally strong, lower your levels and start to panic.

“So I hope we show also strong personality and we take our chances, we defend well, even set plays. It's not just one thing.

“You have to do a lot of things very well because we've seen we've been quite good against them, but it's not enough. You have to be even better.”

The Cherries visit Aston Villa on Sunday, November 9, kick off at 2pm.
