'Next big thing': Amorim blown away by Man United star in training

Manchester United are set to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils will head to London with revenge burning in their hearts after the painful UEFA Europa League final defeat back in May.

Manager Ruben Amorim admitted that he was blown away by Benjamin Sesko in training.

While pundits have been quick to criticise the young Slovenian striker, Amorim has no doubts about his immense potential and long-term value to the club.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “I am relaxed, but he is not relaxed. I understand how things are in football.

“He is going to struggle, that is normal. He has no experience here (in England).

“When everyone says ‘you are the next big thing’ and then you come to one club that is the hardest club.

“If you don’t perform every week, you are going to hear a lot of things from club legends, pundits or the media.

“When I started training with Ben, (I realised) he has more potential than I was thinking.

“He is going to be our striker for the long term but is going to have these struggles during the ride”

Benjamin Sesko has immense potential

United completed their hunt for a marquee striker after signing Sesko from RB Leipzig earlier this summer.

The 22-year-old has produced two goals and one assist in just 586 minutes of Premier League action, and his performances have been steadily improving.

While some pundits have resorted to lazy criticism of the towering centre-forward, his arrival has added a clinical edge and a new dimension to United’s attack.

Sesko has been particularly effective when Amorim instructs his side to go direct, using his strength and aerial presence to unsettle defenders.

His hold-up play is superb and links well with other attackers.

He often drops deep to collect the ball before spraying it wide to Amad Diallo, who is always ready to exploit the space on the right flank.

Playing as a striker for a big club like United is a huge responsibility.

Sesko has shown glimpses of his talent, and he could be a future superstar if he continues with his current work ethic.
