Few will question Dubravka’s tag of Burnley’s player of the season to date. In fact, no other goalkeeper in the Premier League has made more saves, many of them eye-catching too.“Probably that one, because it matters,” Dubravka said, when asked to name his favourite save to date.“It was the 95th minute and we won the game, so I'm pleased that I could help the team. Everyone was super happy after the game.”Reflecting on his time at Turf Moor so far, the stopper added: “I enjoy every minute on the pitch. No other Premier League goalkeeper has made as many saves as Dubravka so far this season (Photo by David Rogers/Getty Images)“It’s a different team, different structures, different systems, so I needed to adapt. But I’m trying to make the most of it and enjoy every minute.“I’m just trying to do my best on the pitch, trying to obviously help the players when they need me.“But at the same time, as I said, I'm trying to enjoy the game because to play regularly every week, I'm not going to lie, that's why I came here, to try to get a chance to play.”Despite last week’s defeat to table-topping Arsenal, Burnley are going well so far – averaging a point per game and sitting outside the bottom three.“It’s been positive,” Dubravka added.“We obviously started the season playing against some top opponents, a tough start, but we also collected a couple of points against good sides, so it’s still positive.“Now we’re heading into the last game [West Ham away] before the international break, so it's going to be crucial.”The Burnley Express has launched a new WhatsApp channel to bring the latest news, analysis and team & injury updates directly to your phone. Set-plays are a key factor as well, so they really have a chance to win the league.“It's still probably too early to say, but that's one of the best teams we've played at the moment.”Despite starting the game on the front foot, it was a corner that handed Arsenal a 10th minute lead in what was their first foray into the Burnley box.Having scored 12 of their 18 league goals from set-pieces, the Gunners continue to steal plenty of headlines for their superpower.“The delivery [from Declan Rice] was good, but they have a structure,” Dubravka explained. “They are aggressive.“Unfortunately for us, it was just probably one duel and we could have avoided the goal. But it's about the small margins, about the details.“The good thing after that was that there was a good reaction. The second-half was much better from us and we should build up on that.”Burnley must now switch their attention to this weekend’s crucial clash down at the bottom end of the Premier League table. The Clarets head to the capital looking to stretch the gap to West Ham and the bottom three to six points, while a defeat will see the Hammers draw level.“They're right below us, so they need the results, the same as us,” Dubravka said.“Every point counts and every point matters. It's going to be crucial again, but we need to be brave.“We need to try to play our way and try to be active and solid in the defence as well. That's going to be the key factor.”Continue Reading
