The 2025/26 season is beginning to take shape – not just in the Premier League, but across Europe. Teams are starting to fall into place, as are their respective top goalscorers.
In this piece, we’ve taken a look at the five top goalscorers across Europe’s top five divisions. Just to recap, this includes the Premier League, Ligue 1, Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga. Any players outside of these five leagues will not be taken into consideration (sorry, Cristiano).
Of the players on this list, two of them play in Ligue 1, while the Bundesliga, Premier League and La Liga each have one representative. As such, there are no Serie A players in this list. Before we begin, can you guess who made the final cut?
Esteban Lepaul
After a decent, if somewhat mediocre season in 2024/25 with Angers in Ligue 2, Esteban Lepaul has hit the ground running with Rennes in Ligue 1 this campaign.
Lepaul has scored a very healthy total of 8 goals in 11 outings, alongside a trio of assists. At the age of 25, his best years are still well ahead of him – perhaps a call-up to France’s senior international team could be on the cards in the summer?
Joaquin Panichelli
The second Ligue 1 player on our list, Joaquin Panichelli has scored 1 more goal than Lepaul, giving him a total of 9 goals league scored thus far. Additionally, he has also scored 1 goal in 1 game in the Europa Conference League.
He was snapped up in the summer by Strasbourg after a meandering couple of seasons with Alaves in La Liga. At just 23, big things are surely awaiting the young Argentinian in the near future.
Harry Kane
The first big name star on our list, Harry Kane has been tearing up the Bundesliga ever since his fateful transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.
This season, Kane has notched up an eyewatering 12 goals in 9 Bundesliga games – on top of this, he has also scored 5 goals in 4 Champions League games. He is in the form of his life – can he maintain it ahead of the 2026 World Cup?
Kylian Mbappe
Arguably the biggest superstar in world football at the moment, Kylian Mbappe has been living up to the hype this season. With 13 goals in 11 La Liga games and 5 goals in 4 Champions League outings, it isn’t hard to see why Mbappe is revered so highly.
After a middling first season at Real Madrid (at least by his standards) Mbappe had to endure no end of criticism – but his critics have since been emphatically silenced by his efforts in the 2025/26 campaign.
Erling Haaland
Is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland the best player in the world? There is definitely a case to be made – the Norweigian all-star has scored 13 goals in 10 Premier League games this season, notching up an assist along the way.
He also has bagged 5 Champions League goals in 4 games and captained City this week vs his old club Dortmund showing the faith Pep has in him.
When Haaland is on form, he is practically unstoppable. Last season was a difficult one for him, but he is firing on all cylinders once again this year.
