Leeds Utd: The next few games are going to be tough for Leeds Utd
Leeds United head to second-bottom Nottingham Forest sat four points clear of the Premier League dropzone.
Whites captain Ethan Ampadu has made a Leeds United four-point gap declaration with a Nottingham Forest warning.
Ampadu, though, has declared that United’s sole focus is on the gap that matters most after 38 games in assessing whether Leeds would have taken such a start had it been offered to them at the beginning of the campaign.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Ampadu was asked if Leeds would have taken being four points clear of the bottom three after ten games played.
The skipper reasoned: “It's weird to say, it doesn't matter at this stage. If you asked me at the end of the season, I'd say yes.
"But for now we want to just try and pick up as many points as we can, put in the performances that we know we can, learn lessons from throughout difficult games that we can do better with and just make sure that we get ourselves into a good place and a good rhythm and show what we are capable of.
"The points obviously matter at this point but it's much more important after 38 games than right now."
Fifth-bottom Leeds are four points clear of third-bottom West Ham and also one point ahead of fourth-bottom Burnley who visit West Ham as part of a huge weekend in the lower reaches of the division.
Leeds then travel to second-bottom Forest on Sunday afternoon, heading to the City Ground with a five-point cushion back to the Reds.
“Especially a lesson from the Brighton game”
Ampadu warned: "There's that thing where when there's a new manager comes in it might give a team a bit of freshness and a bit more belief and a bit more hope.
"We know first of all it's going to be a very difficult away game, they are going to want to win all of the duels, they are going to want to win the battles.
"They are also going to try to play their football and their style to win the game.
"We know that especially a lesson from the Brighton game, we have to start quicker, we have to start more physical.
"We have to make sure we put a foothold in the game which then after that we will be able to play a little bit more.
"We know we are going to be in for a tough game, they're going to be right up for it as they should be and it's just trying to match that intensity from the very start."
