Packers’ Luke Musgrave truthful message after unfortunate Tucker Kraft news

Lukas Musgrave enters Week 10 of the 2025 NFL regular season with something to prove, as he takes over the Green Bay Packers’ no. 1 role in the team’s tight end room following the season-ending injury suffered by Tucker Kraft in their 16-13 Week 9 loss at home to the Carolina Panthers.

Musgrave has barely seen action on the field this season, but Green Bay fans are bound to see him more, as he’s expected to be the next man up in the tight end depth chart.

On the season, Musgrave has been featured in only 32 percent of Packers offensive snaps, while racking up just 88 receiving yards and four first downs on nine receptions and 10 targets through eight games.

Musgrave knows what it’s like to deal with injuries, as he speaks up on Kraft ahead of Week 10 against the Eagles

Musgrave can relate to Kraft’s situation, even though he’s never suffered as serious an injury as Kraft’s ACL tear. He missed multiple games in 2023 with an abdominal issue and again in 2024 because of a problematic ankle.

“Tucker being out as a bummer deal. It’s a crummy deal, so we feel for him,” Musgrave said while speaking to the media on Thursday, per (via Kelly Hallinan of NBC 26 News).

“But no, I think preparation should stay the same. I always prepare like I’m going to play or playing the full capacity. Preparation is going to be the same. Yeah, again, I’ve been through those two injuries in the NFL. Not as luckily, not as serious as Tucker’s. It just sucks. There’s no really way around it. It’s a bummer deal. He’s been playing great. Obviously, he’s going to come back and be great again, but it’s tough to see him out with the type of player and guy he is. [It] sucks.”

As for the expanded role ahead, Musgrave seems to be ready for it.

“Oh yeah, just trying to. Yeah, get better every week,” Musgrave shared.

“Every year gets better. I think I have. There’s always room to improve, so continuing to play with good effort and to the best of my ability.”

Musgrave was taken 42nd overall at the 2023 NFL Draft by the Packers, much earlier than when they selected Kraft in the third round (78th overall), so this is an opportunity for the former Oregon State Beavers star tight end to show his true potential as a main playmaker downfield for Green Bay’s attack.
