Sunderland made an attempt to sign Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi in the summer window.
Despite an agreement over personal terms, the Black Cats couldn’t agree terms with the Rossoblu. They missed the deadline to use his release clause and Bologna stuck to their guns.
The defender’s contract runs out in the summer of 2027. Bologna have tried to hand him a new deal but have, so far, failed in their attempts.
In the meantime, Lucumi has again become an important part of Vincenzo Italiano’s side.

The outlet also back the Rossoblu to make another attempt to secure him to a new contract. They describe Lucumi’s situation as ‘dangerous’ and ‘precarious’. This is because Bologna can lose a lot of money if no renewal takes place.

If the South American renews, Sunderland will find it difficult to land the defender.
