Wolverhampton Wanderers want to make Rob Edwards their new manager and developments on Friday suggested a move could be closer after he failed to take training, before his Middlesbrough pre-match press conference was cancelled.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, the Boro boss is open to a move to Wolves despite the Midlands club's precarious position at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The 42-year-old has done an impressive job at Boro, leading them to third place in the Championship standings as they eye promotion back to the Premier League.
Should Edwards depart the Riverside Stadium less than five months after he joined, focus will quickly turn to the mammoth job at Molineux.
GIVEMESPORT takes a look at the winners and losers at Wolves if Edwards is named as Vitor Pereira's replacement.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards
The Fans
Wolves fans are understandably unhappy with how things have turned out this season at Molineux, and things turned toxic in the stands towards the end of Vitor Pereira's tenure.
Things could quickly change when Edwards arrives though.
The former Luton Town boss has history at Wolves having managed youth sides and even had a two-game spell in interim charge in 2016 following the sacking of Walter Zenga.
Not only that, he also has history for getting fans on side quickly at new clubs, admitting himself that the fans are the 'most important' people at a club and that he looks to build a strong relationship with supporters as soon as he is appointed.
A previously unhappy set of Middlesbrough fans are already feeling much brighter under Edwards given their lofty position in the Championship, with the 42-year-old lifting the whole mood around the Riverside.
Emmanuel Agbadou and Toti Gomes
In the final weeks of his tenure, Vitor Pereira flipped between four and five-at-the-back formations, which meant that one of Wolves' usual mainstay centre-backs has found themselves out of the starting XI.
Emmanuel Agbadou has been hit in recent weeks, playing in just 111 minutes of Wolves' last five Premier League games.
However, it has been even worse for captain Toti Gomes, who has 46 minutes to his name across the same number of matches.
If Edwards does play with three centre-backs, the duo would hope to be back in the XI on a regular basis.
Hwang Hee-Chan
Wolves Hee-chan Hwang
Upon his appointment at Middlesbrough, Edwards confirmed that he wants his teams to play with intensity and to be aggressive.
That plan could be music to the ears of Hwang, another senior Wolves player who has found first-team minutes harder to come by this term.
Hwang is known for his ability to chase and press and he could be an ideal fit in Edwards' frontline at Molineux.
Tolu Arokodare
Edwards liked to play with a big centre-forward during his spell with Luton and he told fans on his arrival at Middlesbrough that he wants to keep the ball as far away from his team's goal as possible.
His arrival at Molineux could be great news for Arokodare in that regard, following the Nigeria international's £24m move on deadline day.
The 6 ft 6 striker has only played 312 minutes in all competitions since then, but his ability to hold the ball up could be something that is very much suited to what Edwards wants to do on the pitch.
Wolves Losers if Rob Edwards Appointed
Jose Sa
Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jose Sa
The experienced Portuguese goalkeeper has played second fiddle to Sam Johnstone at Wolves in recent weeks, and his situation may not improve under Edwards.
As mentioned, the English boss likes to keep the ball as far away from his own goal as possible and that means he wants a keeper who will be willing to go long when needed, as well as being a good shot-stopper.
Johnstone is considered slightly better with his feet than Sa, which is why he's got the nod between the sticks in recent weeks.
Given what Edwards wants, it seems unlikely that an immediate change would happen to bring Sa back into the starting XI.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde
One of Pereira's most controversial decisions in recent weeks was starting two players considered to be among Wolves' best players on the substitutes' bench.
It would be no surprise if Edwards wanted to bring both Andre and Joao Gomes back into contention at Molineux given the quality they have shown previously, and Bellegarde could be the midfielder most likely to be sacrificed.
Edwards says he likes to control games as high up the pitch as possible and both Andre and Joao Gomes have the ability to do just that.
