Enzo Fernandez is expected to start for Chelsea against Wolves
Chelsea Football Newsletter
Enzo Maresca has been left to contend with yet more injury problems ahead of Chelsea’s game against Wolves tonight.
Maresca says he is waiting to find out the severity of Romeo Lavia’s quadricep injury after he was taken off just eight minutes into the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Qarabag.
The midfielder will miss out against the Old Gold, while Pedro Neto will be assessed having missed Chelsea’s trip to Baku as a precaution.
Cole Palmer, Benoit Badiashile, Dario Essugo and Levi Colwill remain out, while Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are all playing through injuries.
Chelsea have made the most changes of any team in the Premier League this season by some distance, with Maresca clear that he has purposefully adopted a policy of rotation.
It’s a decision that has drawn criticism, but Maresca is adamant that sweeping changes are necessary for a Chelsea side who had less than two weeks to prepare for the new Premier League season, owing to their involvement in the Club World Cup.

Maresca is expected to make more changes to his side ahead of the visit of managerless Wolves, knowing a win could catapult them back into the top four.
Liam Delap could start for the first time since August, having served a one-game suspension against Tottenham following a two-month lay-off with a hamstring injury.

However, Reece James, whose minutes are being managed after a succession of injury issues, could be rested, having played the full 90 in Chelsea’s last two games.
