Sheffield United, Leeds United and FA Cup - The YP FootballTalk Podcast

Leeds United are reportedly considering a move to sign Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante.

The 26-year-old joined the Sky Blues from West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2024, delivering a modest return of six goals in his maiden campaign.

However, the Ghana international has hit the ground running this term and already registered 10 league goals across 14 outings.

Scintillating form often draws attention and it has been suggested Thomas-Asante has drawn an admirer.

Leeds United linked with Thomas-Asante

SportsBoom have claimed Leeds are weighing up a possible swoop for the in-form frontman in the winter transfer window.

The report claims the Whites see him as a potential solution to their goalscoring problems.

His Coventry teammate, Haji Wright, has already been linked with Leeds. The USA international has also enjoyed a strong start to the campaign and various outlets have suggested he is on the Leeds radar.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Leeds will test Coventry’s resolve regarding either of their coveted marksmen.

Leeds United’s attacking troubles

Leeds were among the most devastating attacking sides in the Championship last season, although goals have been harder to come by in the Premier League.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha arrived on free transfers in the summer, joining from Everton and Wolfsburg respectively, but have managed just one goal each.

Joel Piroe was Leeds’ top scorer last season yet has not managed to open his account in the top flight. Teenage prodigy Harry Gray, meanwhile, is waiting for his Premier League debut.

He said: “I’m not harping back to when I played but there was an abundance of nines. I think that number nine has been spread across a front three and there’s more of a fashion of wanting to be a number 10.

“They’re a rare thing, goalscorers, and I think if you ask the top five or six clubs in the Premier League, to go and pick one, there’s not many out there.

“When you’re down the pecking order and you’re shopping in the Championship, it’s not easy. It’s a big jump, we all know it’s a big jump from the Championship to the Premier League.
