West Ham United may have finally picked up their first win under Nuno Espírito Santo, but serious concerns still linger around the London Stadium.
The Hammers sit 18th in the Premier League after more than a quarter of the season played, and unless results improve soon, a relegation battle looks increasingly inevitable.
The biggest issue has been at the back — 21 goals conceded in just 10 games, the second-worst defensive record in the league.
It’s clear that reinforcements are needed in January, and one player who continues to be linked is Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck.

As recently reported, West Ham remain interested in signing the 24-year-old German defender, having previously missed out on him in the summer.
The club reportedly tabled a €25 million offer earlier this year, but the move never materialised. Since then, the Hammers have continued to monitor Bisseck, who has been praised as an “incredibly strong” and composed centre-back capable of bolstering Nuno’s fragile backline.
Now, Hammers News correspondent Graeme Bailey has provided an update on the situation — and it’s a mixed one.
“Bisseck is a player liked by [Inter coach] Cristian Chivu, but he is not a regular starter,” Bailey explained. “I am told that Inter would consider a sale, even though they like him.”
However, Bailey was quick to downplay the chances of a temporary deal, noting that Inter are unlikely to agree to a short-term arrangement.
“He is highly unlikely to be involved in a loan with option, especially with a team in relegation trouble,” he added.
With Inter Milan competing at the top of Serie A and in the Champions League, while West Ham fight for survival, a deal looks ambitious at best.
Still, for Nuno and the Hammers, January may be about dreaming big — and hoping one or two bold moves can turn their season around.
