As a former player and coach at Molineux, Edwards has a close connection to Wolves.
As such, the prospect of taking the reins is extremely appealing, and he has told his current employers as much.
John Percy, writing for The Telegraph, reveals: “A former Wolves defender and academy coach, the 42-year-old has a long association with the club and told Boro’s hierarchy that it was a job he would find impossible to turn down.”
That tells us all we need to know. Wolves want Edwards. Edwards want Wolves.

It sounds like this should be wrapped up in short order — but not before Middlesbrough express their concerns, it would seem.

Having just brought Edwards in this summer, and having seen his impact, it’s understandable that the Championship outfit aren’t best pleased at the new developments.
They have a contract with Edwards, but as we know, that’s just part of the recipe. Edwards clearly has his heart set on Molineux, and it’s hard to see a way forward that doesn’t see him on the sideline against Palace at the end of the month.
But Middlesbrough won’t take this coup lying down, accusing Wolves of breaching Premier League regulations.
The club just released a statement of the same, writing: “Unfortunately Wolves have behaved at a standard less than we expect and we believe their conduct is in breach of PL regulations.”
