[Sport UA have comments](https://sport.ua/uk/news/813099-mikolenko-nazvav-golovnu-problemu-u-svoiy-gri-tri-sezoni-u-zoni-vilyotu) from the Everton man today. He candidly admits that he needs to improve his attacking numbers.
The Everton left-back has been speaking openly about [life at Everton in recent weeks](https://sportwitness.co.uk/complete-lie-everton-player-dismisses-insider-claims/). That now includes a frank admission about his attacking numbers for the club.
Mykolenko has been Everton’s first choice left-back since replacing Lucas Digne after joining in January 2022. Replacing the Frenchman, who had shone in the position after replacing Leighton Baines, has been no easy task.
Both of those players are known for being smart, attacking full backs. Baines recorded 39 goals and 59 assists in all competitions for the Toffees. Digne registered six goals and 20 assists during his time at Goodison Park.
Mykolenko, meanwhile, has managed four goals and three assists in all competitions to date. That’s largely been a by-product of a difficult few years for Everton. Under Sean Dyche, in particular, the focus was on defensive strength than attacking output.
That’s now changed somewhat under David Moyes, and Mykolenko admits that he needs to up his game.
_“The truth is that I need to progress in the game in the final third of the field,”_ he said.
_“Of course, at Dynamo I had different numbers. You shouldn’t compare Dynamo and Everton. For three seasons we have been constantly in the relegation zone, and for the most part we don’t feel like attacking._
_“The new coach David Moyes and I started playing differently, and I agree that I need to add to my attacking play._
_“For three years I hardly attacked, and now I need to be better at the other team’s goal. We are actively working on my attacking play.”_
