Newcastle United sporting director Ross Wilson would be wise to get on the same page as Eddie Howe regarding Kieran Trippier’s future at the club.
Wilson has major decisions to make at Newcastle United and there’s little doubt that the club need to become better sellers in the transfer market.
Still, that doesn’t mean the club need to get rid of players when they can still add value under Howe’s management.
Trippier, for example, remains a key player but will be out of contract at the end of the season. Howe wants to keep Trippier at Newcastle beyond that point, such is his importance to the cause.
With that in mind, insight from The Chronicle is interesting.

Eddie Howe wants Kieran Trippier to stay at Newcastle United
They suggest that Trippier is attracting interest from AS Monaco, as well as a clutch of teams in the Saudi Pro League.
At 35, the former England international is reportedly looking for security in the final years of his career.
The decision, it’s said, will come down to Wilson. Howe is on board, but the sporting director must decide whether or not to keep a player on big wages who may not play regularly when Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall are fit.

Why Ross Wilson must keep Kieran Trippier at Newcastle United
Trippier is one of Newcastle’s best-paid players, so keeping him at the club is a big financial decision.
Still, it’s almost impossible to imagine a scenario in which the club go out and sign a better player than Trippier going forward.
He’s showing little sign of slowing down and will not need to start regularly anyway. Keeping Trippier represents something of an open goal for Wilson.
Concerns over the wages would be warranted but the money Newcastle would need to spend to replace a player of that quality would be significant.
