Rob Edwards could join forces with former England defender Joleon Lescott at Wolves, according to Molineux News.
The 42-year-old looks set to become Wolves’ new manager and is reportedly eyeing Lescott for a staff role, alongside other former Molineux players.
As GIVEMESPORT revealed earlier today, Edwards will not be in the dugout for Middlesbrough’s clash with Birmingham City as he closes in on being appointed by the West Midlands club.
The Welsh tactician had been planning to manage the Riverside Stadium side on Saturday, but Middlesbrough felt it best he is not in charge, having also cancelled the manager’s press conference on Friday.
Wolves have pinpointed Edwards as their top managerial target following Vitor Pereira’s sacking on Saturday, looking to appoint their sixth permanent manager since 2021.

According to Molineux News, Edwards will be looking at former Wolves players to make up his backroom staff if he is appointed manager at the West Midlands club.
One of the potential additions to his backroom team is believed to be Lescott, who started his professional career at Molineux and spent six years with the club before joining Everton in 2006.
Lescott made 203 appearances for Wolves and helped them win promotion to the Premier League in 2003.
He played alongside Edwards for two seasons at Molineux, while the Welsh tactician spent four years of his playing career at the West Midlands club between 2004 and 2008.
Lescott retired from professional football in 2017 and most recently worked alongside Lee Carsley with the England Under-21s, as well as the senior team for six games.
The report further claims that Edwards will be looking to overhaul Pereira’s setup at Wolves if he is appointed, and could be targeting several former Wolves players for backroom roles.
Wolves parted ways with Pereira following their winless start to the Premier League season, having failed to win any of their opening 10 games of the campaign.
The Molineux side have secured just two wins in 13 games in all competitions this season, both coming in the Carabao Cup, where they were knocked out in the last 16 by Chelsea last week.
Under-21s head coach James Collins and Under-18s boss Richard Walker will lead the first-team squad for their Saturday visit to Chelsea in the Premier League.
