Cam Skattebo's girlfriend has shared an update on his recovery from his brutal triple-injury that ended his rookie season with the New York Giants.

Skattebo had brought life to the Giants' struggling offense, scoring five touchdowns in eight games while having 410 rushing yards and becoming an instant fan favorite with his aggressive running style. He had been made a starter around the same time as fellow rookie Jaxson Dart, who had taken over from veteran Russell Wilson after his struggles.

But a brutal dislocated ankle, along with a fractured fibula and a ruptured deltoid ligament will see him miss the rest of the season, now looking to the 2026 season to return.

Skattebo has undergone surgery, with his girlfriend, Chloe Rodriguez showing an image of him putting their Christmas tree up in their home.

She posted the picture of Skattebo with his injured leg elevated while decorating the tree with the caption: "Too soon?"

Skattebo had attempted to remain positive after his grusome injury, being carted off while leaving Dart looking demoralized - with the Giants already losing wide receiver Malik Nabers to a season-ending injury.

Speaking on witnessing the injury, Dart said: "Yeah, I was devastated. That's my boy, man, so seeing him go down and reacting to what happened, it sucks. It's the worst part of this game."

The Giants are now relying on their rookie quarterback in Dart, as well as their back-ups at both running back and wide receiver, with a struggling offensive line.

Dart and Skattebo's long-term future looks very secure with the Giants, but that cannot be said for their head coach and general manager.

Brian Daboll came into the season among the favorites to be the first head coach fired after back-to-back struggling seasons after his impressive 2022 year.

General manager Joe Schoen has whiffed on a number of big draft picks, including not making a move for Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye - after NFL Hard Knocks revealed that his son had attempted to convince him to do so.

The Giants currently have a 2-7 record, facing the Chicago Bears this weekend.

And while they do look set to be one of the teams with the worst record in the league and in the mix for the first overall draft pick, this year's class has no clear player that looks to be worth taking with the pick - in a class that will be seen among the worst in years.
