Newcastle United supporters have been loving Alexander Isak’s poor start to life at Liverpool.

Sir Kenny Dalglish has snapped back at Alexander Isak’s detractors by insisting the former Newcastle United man will come good.

A nightmare start at Anfield for the Swede has resulted in just one Carabao Cup goal from eight games. To make matters worse, Isak has missed Liverpool’s last four fixtures with a groin injury.

Newcastle fans have been hate-watching the 26-year-old since his controversial exit in the summer. Nick Woltemade has netted six goals to help fill the void left by Isak - now considered persona non grata at St James’ Park.

Sir Kenny Dalglish on Alexander Isak

Liverpool icon Dalglish - also not popular on Tyneside due to his time as manager - hit out at those questioning Isak. Sir Kenny believes the £130million striker will come good in time.

"Listen, they'll all be good enough," Dalglish said. "Give them time to settle down. When you started in your job, did you have a tough start at the beginning? Just give them time.

"But they're going through a spell at the moment. They’re not winning as often as you like to win. But if you have so many new players bedding in, then that takes a wee bit of time."

‘Doesn’t benefit anyone’ - Alexander Isak

On international duty last month, Swedish media have pressed Isak on the Newcastle drama. He is preferring to move on - insisting that dragging up the saga does not benefit either party.

"It's nothing I want to dwell on now,” Isak said, as quoted by ESPN. “It doesn't benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle so let it be. I'm working hard to push myself and play my game. Things have been a bit tougher for us (Liverpool). I believe that as the team improves and things start to flow better, it will also go better for me.”

‘Relationship changed’ - Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe admitted his relationship with Isak changed once the player went on strike. He told reporters in September: “Alex and I always enjoyed a great relationship. I loved working with him. I hope he enjoyed working with us. It was mutually beneficial.

“We helped him become the player he in part is today and he helped us as a team achieve some unbelievable milestones and was part of a very successful team. The moment he went on strike our relationship did change and that was probably a turning point in our relationship."
