Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool with the French defender available to move on a free transfer next summer as things stand.
The centre-half has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, who landed Trent Alexander-Arnold from the Reds when his contract expired in the summer. Kylian Mbappe is another high-profile signing who arrived at the Bernabeu on a free transfer in recent years - and Los Blancos now have Konate on their radar.
Howeber, Bild report that Bayern have been in contact with Konate's entourage to express an interest in bringing him back to the Bundesliga, where he made his name with RB Leipzig before moving to Liverpool.
Further developments could hinge on whether or not Dayot Upamecano remains at the Allianz Arena. Upamecano, like Konate, sees his contract expire this summer and Bayern may ramp up their efforts for the Liverpool star if he does choose to quit the Bavarians.
Real have the likes of Eder Militao, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger among their options at the heart of defence, but are still weighing up the possibility of bringing in Konate.
Last year Liverpool found themselves constantly fielding questions about player contracts. Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk extended their deals in the latter part of the season, but Alexander-Arnold announced late in the day that he was leaving for pastures new.
Konate, who cost £36million, has played 147 times for the Reds but has copped criticism for his performances, feeding a narrative that his mind is on his next move. Arne Slot has been quick to defend the Frenchman though, claiming he's not the only player to struggle for form.

He said: “If you are losing a game of football, then it doesn't help if you lose the ball too many times, too easily. He's [Konate] been one of them, but he's definitely not the only one. If you then lose a game of football there is so much focus on that one moment, that suddenly your 90 minutes have been very, very poor.
"That's just not the way I analyse the game. In the last two games, it's been obvious and clear that we've made a few errors, not just him [Konate] but others, that we're not used to.”
