The 2025/26 season is beginning to take shape – not just in the Premier League, but across Europe. Teams are starting to fall into place, as are their respective top goalscorers.
In this piece, we’ve taken a look at the five top goalscorers across Europe’s top five divisions. Just to recap, this includes the Premier League, Ligue 1, Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga. Any players outside of these five leagues will not be taken into consideration (sorry, Cristiano).
Of the players on this list, two of them play in Ligue 1, while the Bundesliga, Premier League and La Liga each have one representative. As such, there are no Serie A players in this list. Before we begin, can you guess who made the final cut?
Esteban Lepaul
After a decent, if somewhat mediocre season in 2024/25 with Angers in Ligue 2, Esteban Lepaul has hit the ground running with Rennes in Ligue 1 this campaign.
Lepaul has scored a very healthy total of 8 goals in 11 outings, alongside a trio of assists. At the age of 25, his best years are still well ahead of him – perhaps a call-up to France’s senior international team could be on the cards in the summer?
Joaquin Panichelli
The second Ligue 1 player on our list, Joaquin Panichelli has scored 1 more goal than Lepaul, giving him a total of 9 goals league scored thus far. Additionally, he has also scored 1 goal in 1 game in the Europa Conference League.
He was snapped up in the summer by Strasbourg after a meandering couple of seasons with Alaves in La Liga. At just 23, big things are surely awaiting the young Argentinian in the near future.
