Romano Reveals“Important News”As Liverpool Enter Talks With 2 Players

Liverpool are keen to advance talks as they seek to extend the contracts of midfield duo Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said discussions about the new deals are at a preliminary stage, but the Reds fully intend to step up negotiations over the coming weeks:

“Liverpool are working on new contracts – Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai. With Gravenberch, already some conversation, very early stages, took place, with Dominik Szoboszlai also, and now talks are advancing and progressing between Liverpool and Dominik Szoboszlai over [a] new contract.”

“Let me be clear. We are not at the final stages of the negotiations. We are not at he verbal agreement stage with Dominik Szoboszlai, but the contacts are continuing between Liverpool and Dominik Szoboszlai.”

“So, there is a discussion ongoing. Liverpool are prepared to improve his salary, and that’s important news. Dominik Szoboszlai was already on a very good salary, but his performances have been fantastic.”

“Gravenberch also doing very well, so Liverpool want to keep both players for the long term, but with Dominik Szoboszlai, contacts have advanced in the last few days, with Liverpool pushing.”

The 2 Liverpool midfielders are tied down until 2028

Both players made the move to Anfield in the summer of 2023, with the pair also putting pen to paper on five-year deals.

It is not a surprise to hear that the Premier League champions want to get new agreements sorted now, as they don’t want to be in the situation like they were last season, when three key players (Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold) were running down their contracts.

Szoboszlai has already been the subject of rumours

Reports in the Hungarian media over the past few days have mentioned Manchester City and Real Madrid as potential suitors for the club’s No.8.

Szoboszlai is keen to see his £120,000 a week salary increase to a number close to £200,000 a week, and it appears some agents are putting pressure on the club to agree to his demands by leaking information about interest from other teams.
