Disgruntled Browns veteran might’ve been exactly what Chiefs needed at trade deadline

The Kansas City Chiefs didn't make any moves at the trade deadline and that was certainly frustrating for the fanbase. A position the team really could have used help at was at running back and there were plenty of available running backs that Brett Veach could have acquired.

One of those running backs was Jerome Ford of the Cleveland Browns, who clearly wanted to be traded. There had been reports that Ford was on the trade block but the trade deadline came and went and he's still residing in Cleveland, much to his chagrin.

Ford hasn't been shy about voicing his feelings about not being traded either. The Browns veteran running back reposted two TikToks about being unhappy at work, which... if that doesn't tell you how he's feeling right now, I'm not sure what will.

Jerome Ford clearly wishes he had been traded and the Chiefs sure could have used him

While Ford doesn't hint where he wishes he had ended up, it's obvious that he's not happy with his current team and would have liked to have been traded to a contender. The Chiefs might not be the same dominant team they've been during the Patrick Mahomes era but there's no doubt that playing in Kansas City for a team that has a shot to be in the playoffs is a heck of a lot better than playing for a Browns team that's going nowhere.

Ford could have helped this Chiefs offense in a big way too. While he hasn't been the same guy he was a season ago that rushed for 565 yards and three touchdowns, he'd have given the Chiefs backfield the boost they needed. Isiah Pacheco's injury paired with the running backs already not performing that well meant this unit could have used an upgrade. Ford could have been exactly that.

It's disappointing that Brett Veach opted not to address the running back position but he must have felt that the team was fine as is. We'll see if his gamble pays off or not.

As for Ford, he'll be a free agent at the end of the season. Maybe he ends up in Kansas City next year. We'll have to wait and see.
