The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a tight 30-29 overtime win against the Las Vegas Raiders. While the win ended a two-game skid in which they lost by a combined 36 points, it was too close for many fans. Las Vegas entered the game 2-5, and quarterback Geno Smith had thrown a league-leading 10 interceptions before the matchup, yet still Trevor Lawrance and company only squeaked by with a single-point victory—and this only off the mitts of defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton.
Still, a win's a win, and the Jags (5-3) now look to their division rival, the Houston Texans (3-5). Somehow, even with C.J. Stroud out for the game, the Jaguars are only 1.5-point favorites, with most ESPN analysts picking the Davis Mills-led Texans.
Either way, here are three bold predictions for the Week 10 matchup.
Parker Washington will bring in 10 catches for 100+ yards and a TD
Wide receiver Parker Washington has been a consistent bright spot in a receiver room struggling with injuries, drops, and an overall underperforming squad. Second-year veteran Brian Thomas Jr. is having a sophomore slump, Dyami Brown has had to push through injuries and drops, and rookie Travis Hunter is wasting away on IR.
Washington, however, has been consistently available and consistently reliable. Against the Raiders, when players seemed to be dropping like flies, No. 11 hauled in eight receptions for 90 yards, with only one incompletion when quarterback Trevor Lawrence through the ball his way. He's shone on special teams, as well, with an 87-yard return for a touchdown. With the addition of wideout Jakobi Meyers, look to see Washington targeted from the slot.
Trevor Lawrence will run for a TD, throw for a TD, and not turn the ball over
Now that's a bold prediction, especially considering the Houston Texans' defense is fourth in the league in interceptions, third in the league in passing yards allowed, fifth in rushing yards allowed, and first in points allowed. Plus, Trevor Lawrence hasn't played well enough this year. No one disputes that, and I suspect Lawrence himself would agree.
Yes, he's put the team on his back a few times—the win against Kansas City comes to mind—but he's struggled with accuracy and protecting the ball. He's only thrown nine touchdowns compared to six picks. For reference, there are only six players who have thrown more interceptions, and 24 players who have thrown more interceptions. Not great.
However, the former Clemson Tiger has shown some solid improvement in the last four games compared to the first four. The first four: 845 yards, five touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 76.05 rating. The last four: 995 yards, eight touchdowns (four rushing, four passing), two interceptions, and an 85.3 rating. Not to mention he's averaging 26 yards rushing per game compared to 8.
He's improving. We can hope he improves faster, and perhaps hoping he does so against a top-tier Houston defense is reaching, but these are bold predictions, after all.
The Jaguars win the turnover battle
The Jaguars are third in the turnover differential (+8), while the Texans are tied for sixth (+6). Both teams take the ball away, and with Lawrence doing a better job of protecting it, I expect to see the black and teal to come out on top in this one. In their last meeting, the defense intercepted Stroud twice and forced a fumble that they recovered.
Now, linebacker Devin Lloyd is expected to play, and Davis Mills is standing behind center for Houston. This is the perfect opportunity for Strapsonville to return to form and snag another two or more takeaways in the game.
"He definitely presents some problems for the offense, for sure."

Final thoughts
This is looking to be a tough matchup, even with a backup quarterback in Houston. The Jaguars are slowly getting healthy—even if they're still essentially limping through midseason. Key additions, such as wideout Jakobi Meyers and the return of Lloyd, should give the Jags the edge they need. I expect they'll be 6-3 when they host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.
