The Jacksonville Jaguars revamped the offensive line in the offseason. So far, they've gotten mixed results. Although the Jags had one of the best offensive trenches early in the year, they've struggled against the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. Then, the group bounced back against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Through the ups and downs, though, the Jags had one constant up front: Anton Harrison. The 2023 first-round pick struggled last year but is currently having a banner season. And while it hasn't been discussed nearly as much as it deserves, his performance hasn't gone fully unnoticed either.
Anton Harrison was dubbed the Jaguars most improved player
Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus put together a list of every NFL team's most improved players and chose Anton Harrison for Jacksonville, noting that the former Oklahoma Sooner is one of the top right tackles in the league. Below's the skinny.
Harrison has continued improving in Year 3 to become one of the more solid right tackles in football. His 73.2 PFF pass-blocking mark is sixth among qualified right tackles in 2025, and he’s one of nine tackles yet to give up a sack this year.
After giving up four sacks in 2024, Harrison hasn't allowed a single one this season. On top of that, he's posted a career-best PFF overall grade of 73.1. Just recently, head coach Liam Coen heaped praise on him, noting that he's shown notable consistency this season.
"I think the consistent, first and foremost, consistent strain in and out when he's playing and straining to the best of his ability. Good things are happening for Anton," Coen told the local media ahead of the Texans game (4:41 mark). "I think he's really passed pro well at a high level, when he's in one-on-one opportunities, and, you know, he's really strained and pulled some holes and pried some holes open for us as well in some of the gap schemes."
Coen continued, "And so, when Anton's playing at that level, it's, it's really fun to watch, and it's great for our offense."
The Jaguars will like to see Anton Harrison improve in one key area
Back in the offseason, Liam Coen called Anton Harrison out, challenging him to be more consistent. The fact that he also split first-team reps with Chuma Edoga might've been the wake-up call he needed, as he managed to put it all together.
But as improved as Harrison has been, he needs to cut down on the penalties. He's already been credited with four this season, as many as he had last year. It's also worth noting that he will be eligible for an extension in 2026, so he'll be incentivized to perform to the best of his capabilities to ensure the Jags give him a new deal as soon as possible.
The Jaguars probably won't mind paying Anton Harrison if he takes the next step in the second half of the season. He's trending in the right direction, and PFF's shoutout is proof of it.
