The NFL MVP race is getting hotter, with second-year Drake Maye leading the way, with veteran Matthew Stafford hot on his heels as the league charges towards playoff season
The 2025 NFL regular season has reached its halfway point, with several teams proving to be surprise packages, from the high-flying, Daniel Jones-led Indianapolis Colts, to a resurging New England Patriots under sophomore quarterback Drake Maye.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs haven't had a fruitful start to the season either, being held at 5-4. The Baltimore Ravens have spent large parts of the campaign without franchise QB Lamar Jackson and are looking to salvage their playoff hopes from 3-5 in the AFC North.
In the NFC, the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, are 6-2 — but their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, hasn't been immune to criticism, and receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith complained over a lack of usage in earlier games. Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are chugging along nicely at 6-2, and Matthew Stafford has the Los Angeles Rams primed for the postseason - but faces stiff divisional competition from a Sam Darnold-led Seattle Seahawks.
