The January transfer window draws closer, and per reports, Leeds United could be very active after their mixed start to the season. Fans were not happy with how the last transfer window went.
In the summer, they were promised big singings and huge spending. And even though Leeds delivered and bolstered the quality of the squad in defence and midfield, the attack was severely neglected. The Whites signed just three new attackers, with only one permanent deal worth £18 million while the other two were free agents.

And as the season has gone on, it has become very clear that Leeds United need one thing – goals. The current options in the team cannot consistently find the back of the net this season. The club’s top scorers are Noah Okafor and defender Joe Rodon, both on two goals.
Even though Leeds managing director Robbie Evans said that the club may skip the January window altogether, Daniel Farke’s recent comments could hint to a quiet few months.

This latest update could mean that the Whites could do some business in their bid for survival. Sportsboom are exclusively reporting that Leeds United are planning a move to sign Coventry City star Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The forward is the top scorer in the Championship this season with 10 goals in 14 games. He is thriving in the team since Frank Lampard took over. This season is not an outlier, the 26-year old has shown he is very productive in front of goal. Thomas-Asante has a decent record since his days with Salford City in League Two.
Huge obstacle awaits Leeds
A move for Brandon Thomas-Asante will not be straightforward for Leeds United. The player’s current contract with Coventry City runs until 2028, which means it will take a huge fee to persuade the Championship side to sell.
What could make this deal much more difficult is the fact that the Sky Blues are chasing Premier League promotion. Frank Lampard would not be happy with letting his top scorer go in the middle of the season when his side is on top of the league. Leeds need to decide if they will be ambitious this January; their form this season has shown some ups and downs. But what is a guarantee is that if they have someone up top to finish chances, they would be in a much better position.
The Whites have the 11th highest expected goals (xG) in the Premier League so far (12.0) but have only managed nine goals. A consistent goalscorer could be what they need to turn their season around.
