Michael Keane admitted he fancied his chances of scoring against Fulham after the Everton defender's vital second goal secured the Blues an important three points.

Centre-back Keane turned home Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's corner nine minutes from time, with the ball eventually going in off his shoulder. The strike made it 2-0 after Idrissa Gueye had opened the scoring from close range in first half stoppage time.

Everton had also seen three goals disallowed for offside, much to the frustration of the home crowd at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Keane's crucial strike calmed the nerves and took David Moyes' side up to 11th in the table.

"The win is very much needed," Keane told Premier League Productions after the victory. "We've been frustrated that we haven't picked up more results lately.

"I'm very pleased to score. I knew it hit my shoulder and I knew it was safe (from being disallowed). We work on set-pieces a hell of a lot and we try and get more goals in the team. One of the targets today was me so I fancied my chances."

Keane's centre-back partner James Tarkowski also hailed the Blues' performance, and felt Moyes' side got what they deserved from the game.

"We played really well to be honest and dominated most of the game," Tarkowski told BBC Sport. "We got that clean sheet finally.

"Lately, we've not scored when we needed to in games and conceded a couple of sloppy goals. The margins are really small at this level but today we got it right.

"We had a couple of disallowed goals that were close. So far our record is not bad here (at Hill Dickinson Stadium). It's a great stadium and the atmosphere is really good."
