Andy Gray and Richard Keys had a lot to say about Tim Iroegbunam’s starring role in Everton’s 2-0 victory over Fulham at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Idrissa Gana Gueye opened the scoring in Saturday’s contest with a neat finish at the near post as Everton closed out their dominant first-half display with a much-needed goal.
Frustration started to build for Everton after having three goals disallowed, and Michael Keane’s 81st-minute goal sealed all three points the Toffees.
The result leaves David Moyes’ side 11th in the Premier League table, whilst Fulham are in 15th.

Everton are crying out for a new striker, and it was no surprise that it was a midfielder who got them up and running on Saturday.

After Vitalii Mykolenko’s whipped in a beautiful cross, James Tarkowski headed against the bar before the ball fell to Iroegbunam, who scuffed his effort from three yards out.
Gueye was on hand to squeeze the ball past Bernd Leno, and Iroegbunam was given the assist in fortuitous fashion.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS at half-time, Keys suggested that Iroegbunam should get the assist for Gueye’s strike, as was the case.
However, Gray swiftly replied, while laughing: “He can’t get an assist for that! Surely not? He’ll say he tried to flick it back, but no way.”

Regardless of the incident, Iroegbunam delivered a brilliant performance in what was his first Premier League start since Everton’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on 13 September.
Having joined the Toffees from Aston Villa in 2024, he has only made 32 appearances and is still taking his time to develop into a Premier League player.
However, it’s clear to see that Iroegbunam must start consistently for Everton, and his performance against Fulham showcased his abundance of quality.

Everton’s home form has been crucial to their progress this season, and the win against the Cottagers has boosted their hopes of achieving a top-half finish.
David Moyes records 20th win vs Fulham with convincing performance
Moyes has a good record against Fulham, and his side were excellent in ensuring they wouldn’t lose back-to-back games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It should have been more than two goals in hindsight, and that is perhaps the only criticism that can be given to Everton’s superb win.
Thierno Barry will feel frustrated to have two goals ruled out for offside, yet it was arguably the most promising performance an Everton striker has had all season.
Once again, Tarkowski, Keane and Pickford were assured in keeping the ball out of the net, and Everton have laid down promising foundations for the rest of the season with their display on Saturday.
