League One and Championship Clubs On High Alert for Manchester City Star

The race is on for Manchester City academy star Jaden Heskey, with several League One and Championship clubs on high alert for the 19-year-old.This comes after the Premier League giants have made Heskey available on loan, according toreports from Pete O’Rourke.

Heskey, the son of former Liverpool, England, and Leicester City striker Emile, made his professional debut against Huddersfield Town this season. Well-regarded in the Citizens’ academy set-up, the midfielder seems set to accelerate his career with consistent professional minutes.

Having started his career as a striker, he has primarily operated as a box-to-box midfielder. With many Championship and League One clubs on alert for the youngster, he could certainly be one to watch in the latter half of the 2025-26 campaign.

Which League One and Championship Clubs Could Sign Heskey?

Having been raised through Manchester City’s academy ranks, he would benefit greatly from a positive, forward-thinking club.

League One outfit Cardiff City boasts a very young, exciting squad in a high-possession set-up under Brian Barry-Murphy. However, Rubin and Joel Colwill, as well as Ryan Wintle, may find it difficult to shift in midfield. However, there is no doubt that a high-possession, promotion-chasing side would be of great benefit to the 19-year-old’s career.

Further down the table are Plymouth Argyle, who have struggled upon their return to the third tier. Currently sitting rock-bottom of the table, Tom Cleverley has been quite unsettled in the midfield.

The youngster has been described as “a bit of a beast” by hisfather and could provide an excellent engine in a struggling Argyle side.

Additionally, a division above, Swansea City, could be a beneficial environment for the youngster. With Alan Sheehan prefers a high-possession set-up with patience in their attacking play.

The Heskey Brothers – Two to Watch

Aged 19 with a younger brother, Reigan, aged 17, further down the City ranks, the pair are certainly two to watch.

Sons of a former England international, their careers are accelerating rapidly, with Jaden looking set to get regular first-team football in January.

While attention has rightlybeen granted to the Bellingham brothers’ development as a potential pairing for England, Manchester City’s academy appears to be raising a similar prospect in the Heskey brothers.

Emile Heskey enjoyed a respectable career in England’s top flight. Making over 600 appearances for the likes of Liverpool, Leicester City, and England, with 18 years in the professional game.

The situation of his eldest son couldcertainly be one to watch in the January transfer window, with high demand surrounding the 19-year-old.
