Opinion: Everton enjoy the last laugh after Fulham's social media dig leaves them with egg on…

Everton have eased the pressure going into the international break with a 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday.

David Moyes wanted a reaction following the draw against Sunderland earlier in the week and that’s exactly what he got.

Goals from Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane secured the points in what was a convincing victory.

Three points have taken Everton to 11th following the full time whistle with results elsewhere able to change that before the end of the weekend.

Thierno Barry made a controversial social media change before the game, but his performance had no Everton fans complaining.

It was another social media post which did not end well for Saturday’s visitors, with Fulham left returning to the capital with egg on their face.

Everton were keen to sign Fulham defender Kenny Tete over the summer, but the Cottagers were able to sign him to a new deal.

The Blues thought they were about to address their issues at right-back before Marco Silva was able to convince Tete to stay at Craven Cottage.

Ahead of kick off on Saturday, Fulham released their team sheet and the media team may have done something slightly cheeky.

Following the summer speculation, Tete featured as the background image for Fulham’s graphic.

The right-back has made seven starts for Fulham in the Premier League this season, with injury keeping him out of two of Silva’s matchday squads.

Tete has admitted he almost joined Everton over the summer, but Fulham stepped up their negotiations when a move neared.

He may be starting to regret his decision as Everton pull four points clear of the Londoners.

He may well have found himself on the losing side, but Tete enjoyed his afternoon up against Jack Grealish.

Everton News understands that Everton will look to sign a new full-back in January.

On Saturday, Tete showed signs of why Everton wanted to sign him over the summer as their answer at right-back.

Moyes has not been overly impressed with Jake O’Brien, with the Ireland international not exactly offering much of an attacking threat.

Fulham did not perform well at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Tete did leave Merseyside with some credit to his name.
