Enzo Maresca’s reason for frustrating Chelsea fans with lineup decision

Chelsea’s team to face Wolves in tonight’s Premier League game it out, and it’s an interesting one.

Enzo Maresca went with the exact team we predicted earlier today, showing that it’s becoming pretty clear what his preferred setup is now that the majority of his squad are fit again.

Reece James’ absence is enforced as the manager treats his captain with appropriate caution. But one decision which is bound to cause some frustration is the persistence with Pedro Neto on the right wing ahead of Estevao Willian.

Why Maresca keeps being cautious with young attacker

The young Brazilian is so thrilling to watch and so effective on the pitch that it’s hard to justify leaving him out. But to be fair to Maresca, we can see why he’s treating the youngster carefully.

Neto is hard working and disciplined. He’s also one of the most experienced Premier League players in the squad. Having him there to start games makes complete sense. Then, later in the game, with Chelsea either needing a goal or leading and able to play a little more on the break, Estevao comes into his own.

It would be frustrating if he was getting 5 minutes at the end of games, but as long as he’s getting solid 40 minute chunks, we’re happy with this arrangement. Let’s not forget, he’s still a kid, and still starting regularly in midweek.

In other news…

Estevao may not be in the team for tonight but Liam Delap is. It’s a huge day for the striker as he looks to make up for a much interrupted start to his Chelsea career.

Moises Caicedo is Chelsea’s key player at the moment, and his impact against Spurs last weekend was just incredible. For one, we think the N’Golo Kante comparisons are apt.
