Chargers Make Roster Moves Ahead Of Sunday Night’s Steelers Matchup

The Los Angeles Chargers have announced multiple roster moves ahead of their Week 10 Sunday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have activated LS Josh Harris, DL Da’Shawn Hand, and DB Deane Leonard from IR. They also elevated RB Jaret Patterson and RB Trayveon Williams from the practice squad to play against the Steelers.

Harris hasn’t played yet this season for the Chargers, but was their long snapper for the last three seasons. This is his 14th year in the league as a special teams player.

Hand started five games for the Chargers this season before his trip to IR. He’s an eight-year veteran of the league and will provide experienced depth along the Chargers’ DL. It’s unclear if he will immediately jump back into his starting role. He has 10 tackles, one sack, one pass defensed, and three tackles for loss so far this season.

Leonard is primarily a special teamer, but the Chargers are dealing with some injury concerns at cornerback with Tarheeb Still doubtful to play Sunday night. He will provide depth and special teams help if he’s active against Pittsburgh.

With Najee Harris out for the season and Omarion Hampton still working his way back from IR, they elevated two running backs to provide depth behind Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins.

Patterson has been active for the Chargers twice already this season, and is now being elevated for the final possible time. In two games, he’s carried the ball 20 times for 74 yards. Those 20 carries came on just 33 snaps, so he is getting the ball more often than not when they put him on the field.

Williams will be active for the first time this season, but spent six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers are familiar with him from his 68 games played in the AFC North. He only has 62 career carries, but he has almost 900 snaps of special teams experience that Los Angeles will put to use.
