Player ratings as Wolves lose 3-0 away at Chelsea

Wolves have now failed to win any of their first eleven Premier League games this season following a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge under James Collins. With Rob Edwards looking very likely to make a return to Molineux, let’s see what he’s walking into with this week’s player ratings. [_Written by Jack Johnson._](https://x.com/JackMJohnson13)

Sam Johnstone – 7

-----------------

It does feel odd giving a goalkeeper a 7 after conceding three goals, but he did make some fine saves to stop the scoreline going higher, and was comfortable in possession.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 4

----------------------

If you’re going to play in a 5, the wingbacks _have_ to be effective, and unfortunately, Tchatchoua offered very little down the right-hand side, with inaccurate passes and little forward running.

Santiago Bueno – 5

------------------

Bueno did get skinned by Garnacho for Pedro Neto’s goal, but besides that he was good in defence and made decent blocks, but conceding three goals is never going to score highly in the ratings.

Ladislav Krejci – 5

-------------------

Similar to Bueno, made some impressive blocks and defended well at times. He too is partially at fault for the Neto goal as he left him to close down Garnacho, but he was not the main culprit of today’s result.

Toti – 5

--------

Toti’s return to the starting line-up saw him in a tricky spot against Neto and Estevao. Perhaps if he’d have jumped and tried to head the ball, Gusto wouldn’t have his first senior goal. The back three were frustrating as they had moments of good, but poor moments too.

Hugo Bueno – 5

---------------

Had some threatening moments and did put in some crosses but they didn’t amount to anything of note. He was poor against Estevao however, and couldn’t get near him each time he faced him.

Andre – 6

---------

Andre did well in the first half, collecting the ball in midfield and recycling it. Once the second half kicked off he became anonymous as Chelsea exclusively threatened out wide and it left Andre isolated.

Joao Gomes – 6

--------------

The number 8 did well in midfield, winning the ball back and had moments when he broke forward and carried the ball that we sorely lacked in other games. A fairly standard JG performance.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 5

--------------------------

Bellegarde has shown Wolves fans what he can do, but it wasn’t on display today. Struggled to keep up with a dominant Chelsea midfield and linked play poorly.

Hwang Hee-Chan – 4

------------------

Hwang can boast a strong passing accuracy but that’s because most of them were backwards. He came deep to receive the ball and then would do very little with it, which is unfortunately what we’ve come to see of him.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 4

-------------------------

He looked tired and lacklustre, and managed one shot that was off target in the entire game. Should Rob Edwards be officially appointed, hopefully JSL will be back to his best.

Substitutes

------------

Marshall Munetsi – 5

--------------------

People may feel like Fer Lopez should have been getting these minutes, but Munetsi did try and make things happen and got into a good position at one stage but nothing came of it.

Mateus Mane – 5

---------------

It’s great to see Mane getting minutes and he looked eager to receive the ball, but unfortunately, not a lot went towards Robert Sanchez’s end, so we weren’t able to see the best of Mane. Hopefully this isn’t the last we see of him getting 20 minutes in the Premier League.

In what feels like an eternity, the wait for a league win continues. Hopefully, with a new manager and a fresh set of ideas, this squad can be revitalised and propelled in a better direction. Following an international break, Wolves host Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and improvement on this performance will be an absolute must.
