It’s been a while since Paul Pierce played in the NBA, and while his time with the Boston Celtics came to a premature end, he still managed to bounce around the league for a couple more years as a solid rotation player. As a result, Pierce went up against quite a few great players during his time in the league, some of whom are still dominating to this day. One guy who falls in that category is James Harden, who is currently leading the way for the Los Angeles Clippers. There’s no doubt that Harden is one of the best guards in the history of the NBA, but his impact on the game of basketball sometimes gets overlooked due to the fact that he doesn’t have a championship to his name. When discussing Harden’s legacy, Pierce admitted that he thinks things would change greatly for the 2018 MVP if he could add a title to his resume. “He really is a rockstar,” Pierce said of Harden in the second season of “Starting 5.” “He’s one of the most influential players that we don’t talk about … If Harden was able to get the Clippers a chip, we gonna have some crazy conversations about where he stand as an all-timer.” Simply put, Harden is one of the most dominant offensive players of his era. In addition to his aforementioned MVP award, Harden is an 11-time All-Star, an eight-time All-NBA First Team member, and a three-time scoring champion. Harden’s place in NBA history is already secure one way or another, but if he can make it to the top of the mountain before calling it a career, he could quickly move up a couple of notches on some of the all-time list discussions.
